How Much and How Often to Water Sunflowers

How Often To Water Sunflowers

Watering your sunflowers the right amount is key to keeping them healthy and vibrant. Knowing how often to water, how much to give, and when and how to adjust your watering schedule can mean the difference between beautiful blooms and dried out, wilting plants.

When it comes to watering sunflowers, the general rule of thumb is to give them an inch (2.5 cm) of water per week. For gardeners in drier climates, supplement with extra water during the warmer months. Sunflower seedlings need the most amount of water, so you may have to water them twice a day. Once they've grown sturdier stems and they're well established, you can then start spacing out your watering schedule to once a day.
